Glasgow, Missouri Community Pool

The Glasgow Pool was originally constructed as a private membership pool by a group of community minded citizens of Glasgow, MO. Eventually, the pool was turned over to the city of Glasgow and has operated as a public pool since that time. There is a subscription fee charged for users. Since the early 1960's the pool has served the recreational needs of generations of Glasgow youth and adults.

However in 2015, the pool is showing the effects of age. The pumps and filtering system and the walls of the pool itself are showing signs of impending failure. The pool has cost more and more to operate over the past few years until, the city management is forced to consider the inevitable necessity of closing the pool.

Estimates have been sought for the expense of building a quality pool to keep this great asset in place for the youth of Glasgow. It will not be cheap, but it will be necessary if we wish to maintain a pool after the current (2015) swimming season.

A committee has been formed to explore how to accomplish this goal. All are welcome to comment or to attend the committee meetings. The help and contributions, either in money or labor, of the entire community will be needed to keep us "in the swim".

The Committee chairperson is Sandy Monnig. A schedule of meetings and activities will appear here soon. Fun things are in store including an adult kick-ball tournament, dances, dinners, raffles, and more.
